The incident has paralyzed order shipments in Japan, forcing the company to shut down several production lines.

Asahi, the Japanese alcoholic beverage giant, announced on September 29, 2025, that it had fallen victim to a cyberattack targeting its IT systems related to order shipments and its call center in Japan. “At this time, no leakage of personal data or customer information has been confirmed,” the group said.

Asahi was nevertheless forced to suspend orders and shipments in Japan, as well as its call center and several customer service operations. With no distribution outlets available, the group had to temporarily close several Japanese plants. “We are actively investigating the cause and working on recovery, but we cannot currently estimate the timeframe for restoration,” Asahi stated.

The company has not provided any details on the origin or nature of the cyberattack, but the ransomware hypothesis appears to be the most likely.
