Staff at schools located in the Sept-Îles, Port-Cartier and Fermont areas (Côte-Nord region) have been forced to operate without Internet access.

In Canada, the management of the Centre de services scolaire du Fer (CSS du Fer), located in Quebec’s Côte-Nord administrative region, announced on February 16, 2026, that a security incident was affecting its information systems.

The organization oversees schools in the Sept-Îles, Port-Cartier and Fermont areas. The discovery of the breach triggered an “immediate mobilization” of its IT teams, as well as the involvement of “external cybersecurity specialists.”

An investigation is currently underway. However, the nature of the cyberattack and the data potentially compromised remain unknown.

On February 18, 2026, the CSS’s general management confirmed that “all departments are affected to varying degrees.” As a result, all staff in the impacted schools must continue working without Internet access until further notice.
