Beyond the arrests, Operation Serengeti 2.0 led to the seizure of 11,000 malicious infrastructures and USD 100 million.

Interpol announced on August 22, 2025, that it coordinated Operation Serengeti 2.0, which resulted in the arrest of 1,209 cybercriminals across Africa. Launched in June 2025, the operation involved law enforcement agencies from 18 African countries and the United Kingdom, in partnership with several cybersecurity firms. Beyond arrests, the operation dismantled 11,432 malicious infrastructures and seized approximately USD 97.4 million.
The targeted groups are suspected of having victimized nearly 88,000 people, primarily through financial scams. Interpol also cited a “large-scale online investment fraud” originating in Zambia, which caused losses estimated at USD 300 million.
