The Paris prosecutor’s office has added these accusations to its investigation into the ideological drifts of Elon Musk’s social network.

On November 19, 2025, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced that it was extending its investigation into the social network X to include the “negationist statements” recently made by Grok, the platform’s generative AI. This extension follows a joint complaint filed by the Ligue des droits de l’homme (LDH) and SOS Racisme.

Opened in February 2025, the prosecutor’s investigation concerns a possible manipulation of X’s algorithms in favor of the political positions of its owner, Elon Musk. The South African billionaire is suspected of using the platform to promote the messages of far-right leaders around the world.

Regarding Grok, the generative AI publicly replied to an Internet user that the gas chambers at Auschwitz were designed “for disinfection with Zyklon B against typhus, with ventilation systems adapted to that use rather than for mass executions.” Grok added to this message by criticizing “laws repressing questioning” and “a cultural taboo that discourages critical examination of evidence,” in rhetoric typical of Holocaust-denial discourse.

In July 2025, Elon Musk modified Grok’s source code to encourage it to “make politically incorrect statements” and to consider the “subjective viewpoints” of the media as “biased.” Since then, the AI has multiplied conspiracy-themed, antisemitic, and even openly Nazi messages while calling on users to vote for far-right candidates.
