In August 2021, in response to the explosion of cyberattacks on U.S. critical infrastructure, Google made a commitment to U.S. President Joe Biden to invest $10 billion to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities.
At the beginning of 2022, the Internet giant confirmed an acquisition that had been announced several weeks before: the purchase of the Israeli cybersecurity startup Siemplify. Specialising in SOAR, the New York-based startup had raised $58 million, notably from G20 Ventures and 83North.
The amount of the deal has not been officially disclosed, but a source close to Google suggests a figure of $500 million. Siemplify has been integrated into Google Cloud Security to strengthen the automated cyberattack response capabilities of its cloud infrastructure.
