    Karine BANNELIER-CHRISTAKIS

    About

    Karine Bannelier-Christakis is a senior lecturer in international law at the University of Grenoble Alpes. She is Deputy Director of the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute and of the Legal and Regulatory Implications of Artificial Intelligence Chair. Her research focuses on the capacity of international law to adapt to the new challenges of international security, in particular in cyberspace. She is particularly interested in the roles and responsibilities of states and private actors in the field of cyber security. In this respect, she works in particular on the issue of hack-back and has also developed the concept of cyber due diligence, which was integrated in 2018 in France’s National Cyber Defence Strategy. As a member of the French government’s cyber security initiative, she was in charge of the scientific coordination of France’s 2017 International Conference on Cyber Security at UNESCO and also participated in France’s National Cyber Defence Strategy. She has been invited to present her work over 80 times in 23 countries. In 2018, her book published with T. Christakis CyberAttacks. Prevention-Responses: Role of States and Private Actors received the Cybersecurity Award of the International Cybersecurity Forum, awarded jointly by the Minister of the Armed Forces of France Ms Florence Parly and the Minister of Defence of Estonia Mr Jüri Luik.
