A partnership with Dragos, as part of its “Community Defense Program,” aims to strengthen the resilience of Canada’s critical infrastructure.

Cybersecurity firm Dragos announced in late March 2025 that it is expanding its Community Defense Program to Canada, targeting the protection of critical infrastructure. Launched in the United States in 2023, the program provides small water, electricity, and natural gas providers with free OT (Operational Technology) cybersecurity tools. It is available to organizations with an annual revenue under 140 million Canadian dollars (89 million euros).

“Small utilities are pillars of critical infrastructure for vital resources such as water and electricity. Yet they often lack the budgets and means to properly defend their operational environments against adversaries — including hacktivists, ransomware gangs, and state-affiliated cybercriminal groups,” reads the Dragos press release.

The program will be rolled out with the support of a network of local partners from the public sector.
