US news agency Associated Press latest victim of Anonymous Sudan.

The pro-Russian hacktivist group, Anonymous Sudan, has claimed responsibility for the DDoS attack that took down the website of the US news agency Associated Press on October 31, 2023. The latter remained unavailable for several hours. In a message on its Telegram channel, the cybercriminal group did not mention a specific motive for the attack.

Anonymous Sudan, which describes itself as “Islamist”, “pro-Russian” and fiercely opposed to the United States, is currently leading a campaign against US media. The group claimed responsibility for taking down the websites of CNN on October 28, the Washington Post and New York Post on October 29, and the British newspaper, the Daily Mail, on October 31.

Over the summer of 2023, Anonymous Sudan had already taken down several major US platforms, including Tumblr, Flickr, Onlyfans and websites belonging to Microsoft.
