[DailyTech] Home Depot suffers a massive data breach, loses over 40 million cards

03 septembre 2014

Russian hackers have reportedly targeted Home Depot, the largest home improvement store in the United States, in the largest data breach since the one that occurred at Target earlier in the year. Brian Krebs first discovered millions of credit cards for sale on the black market under the title “US/EU Sanctions” which led back to Home Depot. The hackers were assumed to be Russian or Ukrainian since the headings of the credit card posted appeared to be retaliation against US and EU sanctions against Russia. Home Depot has announced it is cooperating with its banking partners and law enforcement to investigate further, while Brian Krebs reported that the banks believe the breach extends back to April/May 2014.
