The social network X (formerly Twitter) suffered a slowdown on March 10, 2025, following a cyberattack claimed by the pro-Palestinian hacktivist group Dark Storm. Many users were unable to refresh their feeds for several hours. The platform was most likely targeted by a DDoS attack.
“We are attacked every day, but this attack was carried out with significant resources. It is either a large, coordinated group or a nation-state,” said Elon Musk, chairman and owner of the platform. According to him, the IP addresses used by the cybercriminals were traced “around Ukraine.”
Dark Storm strongly denied this claim, stating that it has “no ties to Ukraine.” The pro-Palestinian hacktivist group emerged in September 2023 and has primarily targeted strategic sectors in Israel and NATO countries.
