NSA, FBI and CISA release factsheet on issue, with critical infrastructure in mind.

On September 12, 2023, the NSA, CISA (US cyber agency) and the FBI published a cybersecurity factsheet dedicated to deepfakes.

In particular, the factsheet warns of their growing role in “disinformation campaigns meant to influence the public and relay false information on political, social, military and economic issues in order to sow confusion, agitation and uncertainty.”

The press release calls for particular alertness in the most sensitive bodies, including:

  • the National Security Strategy;
  • the Department of Defense;
  • the arms industry;
  • critical infrastructure management

The three agencies recommend reading the factsheet in order to effectively learn “best practice in preparing for, identifying and responding to threats tied to deepfakes.”
